Richard Branson loves a good challenge.
That is why in celebration of his 65th birthday in 2015, the Virgin founder and visionary entrepreneur announced that he’d complete 65 problems – as part of the #ChallengeRichard campaign – during the coming year.
Four of the 65 troubles involved Branson writing a notice to the 10, 25, 50 and 65-year-old variants of himself.
This was the result.

Richard Branson’s Notice To His 10-Year-Old Self

In My Notice To 10 Year-Old Me personally, Branson motivated young Ricky to adopt the heart of adventure and never stop dreaming.

He told his younger home that he’ll face obstacles – everyone will – and not let that block the way of attaining his dreams.
Here is a few of his best advice:

  1. “The soul of adventure could keep you curious; open your brain to great opportunities; and steer you over a lifelong pursuit to show that impossible is merely a phrase.”
    2. “Never stop dreaming and creating.”
    3. “Don’t ever let anyone prevent you from seeking your dreams.”
    4. “You can expect to face many difficulties, and often feel like you don’t fit in and that you can’t continue to keep up. Don’t let this carry you again. Use your creativity to find inventive ways around it.”
    5. “You will make a whole lot of mistakes and are unsuccessful time and time again. But don’t let this discourage you. Inability teaches us life’s best lessons, and often shows us an improved way of doing things.”
    6. “Most importantly, remember to have a great time.”
    7. “When you get older you will realise precisely how important it is to do what you like and love what you do. Don’t waste materials your time doing things that don’t excite you.”

Richard Branson’s Letter To His 25-Year-Old Self

In My Letter To 25 Year-Old Me, Branson motivated his younger personal to stick with his new company, Virgin. He warned himself about the bumps forward, but to give attention to his goals – even in the face of adversity.
Branson also wrote about the value of learning from imperfections, and transforming troubles into opportunities.
Here is some of his best advice:

  1. “The street forward is pock-marked numerous bumps, chasms and forks. You will see times where you want to give up and put everything in. Don’t. By turning difficulties into opportunities, you will see success you never realised you were capable of achieving.”
    2. “But you won’t always do well. In fact, you will fail again and again. That’s ok though, because failure is an inescapable part of every personal and entrepreneurial voyage.”
    3. “It’s important to choose yourself up, retrace your steps, check out what went wrong, and study from your faults.”
    4. “Continue steadily to take chances. In the foreseeable future how ‘lucky’ you are running a business will be dependant on how willing you are to take measured risks.”
    5. “Don’t let the naysayers deter you.”
    6. “Don’t hesitate to delegate responsibility.”
    7. “Your ability to have calculated risks, as well as your incurable optimism, will lead to great levels – both in business and in life.”

Richard Branson’s Notice To His 50-Year-Old Self

In My Notice To 50-Year-Old Me personally, Branson – who’s known among some Virgin staffers as Dr. Yes (credited to his proclivity to state “yes” almost automatically to guidelines) recommended his younger self applied to produce a higher cultural impact and a positive difference in people’s lives.

Here is a few of his best advice:

  1. “You’ve never removed into business to earn cash, but instead always wished to make an optimistic difference in people’s lives.”
    “It’s up to all or any of us to create the world you want to live in, and we can if governments, businesses and individuals interact.”
    3. “If you want more incentive to act, think about your children.”
    4. “Passionate people are happy people. The future needs excited, happy and self-confident young leaders, willing to task the position quo and stand up for their convictions.”
    5. “Plus life is more pleasurable when you use your family and friends.”
    6. “…the sky is no longer the limit and the near future will be so bright if you keep up to consider opportunities where others see challenges.”
    7. “Remember, whatever you do and wherever going, ensure you place goal at the heart of your words and activities.”

    The self-described “Tie-loathing adventurer, philanthropist & troublemaker” believes firmly that business can be a force once and for all.
    Branson writes specifically about the world he wants to reside in but recognizes that there surely is a lot more to do.
    Here is some of his best advice:
    1. “Yes, the human race happens to be facing so many challenges, but the soul of entrepreneurship is flourishing, and doing great things to work at creating a global where everyone and the earth thrive.”
    2. “Keep having a great time, taking chances and looking to discover the best in people.”
    3. “Keep dreaming big and declaring yes to your heart’s dreams.”
    4. “Keep considering the earth with wide-eyed eagerness, and thinking that together our company is stronger than the problems that confront us.”
    5. “Keep zest forever, love and the open fire in your abdominal – always remembering Steve Jobs’ words: ‘The people who are crazy enough to believe they can change the world will be the ones who do.’”
    6. “Most of all, keep immersing yourself on earth – it’ll always be the ultimate way to learn and look forward.”
    7. “Now is no time to decelerate; your very best years remain yet to come – so keep the body and mind active, and love in your heart.”
